Holy Communion
Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist, whatever you term it, we believe that this act of receiving the body and blood of Christ through the eating of bread and the drinking of the cup is an important part of each person’s journey to God. It is a sign of the love and unity that the church possesses. And though we do not believe that the bread and cup are literally changed into the flesh and blood of Christ, Free Methodists do believe that Jesus, according to His promise, is really present in the sacrament. Free Methodists practice open communion, which means that anybody who professes faith in Jesus Christ or desires to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ is welcome to receive the elements. One need not be a member of our congregation to participate in this gift from God.
